Challenges are Gateways not Roadblocks

Adversities, heartaches, disappointments, failures, frustrations, challenges, whatever the label, we all experience them. Life is filled with challenges and no one is immune. Even famous and very successful people in life have hurdles to overcome. Check out the video Famous Failures.

If life's challenges are inevitable, then we need to change our approach in how we view and handle them if we want our lives to go a little easier. Consider challenges as gateways rather than roadblocks. Don't waste your time by asking, "Why is this happening to me?". Take a deep breathe, observe the situation objectively and focus on a desired outcome. Don't let your emotions exaggerate the situation. ex. you lost your job - so your life is over? For every problem that arises there is a solution and a gift to the person that is willing to dig for it.

1. Ask yourself the following questions:

What can I learn from this situation so I don't repeat it again?
What do I choose to do now?
What have I or others done in the past under similar circumstances?

Think back to a challenge that you encountered in the past. How did it work out in the long run? Was the outcome as disastrous as you thought it would be or was it an opportunity of personal growth in the form of more confidence and greater resilience.

2. Store to memory a quote or two that you can lean on for added
    encouragement.

Michael C. Muhammad said, "Everything works out in the end. If things are not working right, than it isn't the end yet. Don't let it bother you, relax and keep going."

"The greater the obstacle, the more glory in overcoming it." Moliere

"This too shall pass." Ancient Proverb

3. Life's challenges are easier to confront if you are physically and
emotionally healthy. Check out my article on Mental, Physical,
    Spiritual and Emotional Balance.

4. A belief that
Life is on Your Side, a positive attitude and persistence

will see you to victory.

"Every adversity is the fuel for the soul. The greatest self-realization occurs during the greatest adversity."
-Lailah Gifty Akita, Pearls of Wisdom: Great Mind
