If I had to pick 3 actions that a person can do on a daily basis, that were time and cost efficient and offered huge benefits, my list would be as follows:
1. MOVING- our bodies are meant to move. There are so many ways to move. Walking, jumping, twisting, bending, hopping, skipping, dancing, rolling, shaking, kicking, swinging, running and stretching to name a few. Incorporating movement throughout the day invigorates the body, calms the mind and gets the blood flowing (creating a more youthful glow).
2. PLAYING - have you ever seen an old looking child? Joking of course, but my point is, children know how to play. They become immersed in the moment and are free from any worries or problems of the day. They are fully alert to what they are doing and their only focus is to use their imagination and have fun. They are oblivious to
to the judgement or criticism of others. Remember what you enjoyed doing as a child and incorporate it back into your life. Turn on that music and dance, sing out loud, pick up that play dough or colouring book or dare to hop on that swing. Playing makes room for smiling and laughter while dissolving the very aging effects of stress.
3. HUGGING - has magical, medicinal properties that can't be denied. It is beautiful gesture of intimacy. A sincere embrace with another human being nourishes the soul and softens the affects of anxiety, fear or pain. The mind shuts down, the heart opens wide and for that brief moment two people feel as one. There is no greater fountain of youth then the energy of pure, unconditional love communicated through the power of touch.
So there you have my list. I encourage you to try it out for a week or two and take note of the results. At the very least, you may find yourself smiling a little more and that's a good thing because a smile is something that never grows old.
